EQUIUM has inaugurated in Nantes the world's first thermoacoustic heat pump demonstrator in a collective residential building, at a Nantes Métropole Habitat site, in partnership with Dalkia. The experiment targets domestic hot water production in perfect synergy with a district heating network, a case where conventional heat pumps struggle: high temperature regimes and refrigerants constrained by a confined environment. Built on an acoustic Stirling cycle with helium and no wear parts, EQORE answers where natural fluids reach their technical or regulatory limits. By lowering the network's return temperature, the system eases the integration of renewable energy while producing the building's hot water. The project is supported by ADEME through France 2030, Bpifrance and the Région Pays de la Loire.

EQUIUM is proud to participate in the HEAT INVEST project (I3 Instrument), a European initiative designed to fast-track heat pump adoption, especially in emerging regions. This project focuses on empowering SMEs and startups as key drivers of innovation. EQUIUM is actively involved in the project’s three core objectives: Investment: Strengthening regional business planning to facilitate market access for breakthrough technologies. Policy: Improving regional frameworks to create enabling environments for innovative energy investments. Synergies: Scaling up research and business links within interregional value chains. This partnership directly fuels the industrialization of our EQORE thermoacoustic core — a compressor-less and refrigerant-free solution — while strengthening European industrial sovereignty for carbon-free heat.

The expert lab Pôle Cristal has validated EQUIUM's thermo-acoustic technology and its unique performance. Testing revealed an unparalleled operating envelope from -20°C to +80°C, with key capabilities including: Simultaneously generating high-temperature heat and cooling. Maintaining cooling performance even in extreme conditions (>55°C). The validation also confirmed full-range power modulation (10-100%), ensuring maximum energy efficiency. This recognition by an independent expert is a major step forward in bringing our refrigerant-free solutions to market.

The Minister for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, Christophe Béchu, announced the new Greentech Innovation winning start-ups on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Discovery Stage at VivaTech. This new cohort represents 9 metropolitan and overseas regions.

As part of the France 2030 exhibition, we are thrilled to have had the opportunity to introduce our low-carbon heating solution, which operates without a compressor or refrigerant, to Bruno Bonnell, Secretary General for Investment in FRANCE 2030, and Sylvain Waserman, President of ADEME.

Establishing a French heat pump industry in the Pays de la Loire region is the ambition of Equium, a deeptech company based in Saint-Herblain, which now aims to solidify its industrialization strategy.

To accelerate our developments, we are thrilled to rely on a resonant collaboration with Bouygues Immobilier, centered around a common goal: the decarbonization of buildings. As a result, we have received the 2023 Best Startup Collaboration award, presented by Olivier Roussat.

We are joining the CSTB LAB, led by CSTB and IMPULSE PARTNER, for a one-year support program alongside 12 other startups. This support program focuses on technical and regulatory topics to accelerate the market introduction of innovations in the building sector. This is a major step in building our action community day by day, centered around the development and introduction of the harmonic heat pump to decarbonize the buildings of today and tomorrow!
